Instrumentl strives for flexibility in authentication to keep the login process short, simple, and secure. You can choose the traditional login method using your account email and unique password, or you can use single sign-on (also known as "federated authentication").

Instrumentl supports two forms of single sign-on (SSO):

1) Login with Google

Available on all plans

2) Login with SSO

Designed to support easy access for larger organizations

We also offer an extra layer of login security for any users who choose to use our native MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) option.

Login with Google

"Login with Google" is available to all Instrumentl users who use a Google-affiliated email address (typically, gmail.com or googlemail.com) for their Instrumentl account.

Use this option by simply clicking Login with Google on the Instrumentl login page.

Login with SSO (for large organizations)

"Login with SSO" (Single Sign-On for larger organizations) is a feature exclusive to our Advanced Plan, University Plan, or Custom Enterprise Plans. Setting up SSO with Instrumentl allows you to easily centralize your account management, simplifying the login process for enterprise organizations, including universities, healthcare systems, established consulting firms & nonprofits, and other sizable institutions.

Instrumentl supports single sign-on via any OpenID® Connect-compatible Identity Provider (IdP). Notable examples include:

SSO can be mandated or optional for your account's users. With SSO, you can also enable MFA on your provider.

At this time, we do not support SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management).

Setup Process

Once you've signed up for a qualifying plan, contact your dedicated Customer Success representative to get connected with an Instrumentl integration specialist. Our specialist will need to work with someone who manages your identity infrastructure (typically an IT team member) to get the relevant configuration in place.

Please note that SSO with Instrumentl is domain-based and requires that users are logging in with email addresses from a single (or small number of) managed domain name(s):

During setup, you can specify whether you'd like to make SSO a requirement or optional. The latter allows users to retain the option to log into your account with a username and password separate from their domain-based credentials.

If you haven't yet subscribed to Instrumentl or would like to upgrade your plan to include SSO, get in touch with us to learn more about your options!
