Video Walkthrough
The video below provides an audio-visual explanation of how this sync works. Follow along to use it as a reference guide while setting up your RENXT Integration.
How it works
Setup is easy — authorization is one click. Many organizations have a Blackbaud administrator, and it is advisable for this administrator to authorize the integration, ensuring it has full access.
You'll want your NXT administrator to have access to Instrumentl so they can log into both systems.
Next, the user should map just a few fields for the Opportunities, Funders, and Tasks so Instrumentl knows where to send your data.
Then the integration should be enabled. Instrumentl will have the ability to sync data to RENXT, but it won’t automatically start syncing everything:
Syncing happens when a user manually links an Opportunity in Instrumentl to an RENXT Opportunity and Constituent.
This is by design so that you have full control over what’s kept in your Instrumentl “researching sandbox” and what goes into the official grant pipeline in RENXT.
Step-by-step Integration Directions:
1. Connect your accounts
First, make sure your Blackbaud Admin is logged into both your RENXT account AND Instrumentl.
Visit the Blackbaud Marketplace and search for "Instrumentl":
Select "Instrumentl" under solutions and then click Get Started.
Click Sign in:
This will redirect you to Instrumentl's Integrations Page.
Select Log into Raiser's Edge NXT to log into your account — this is best done by a Blackbaud administrator for full access integration.
Now you're all set up to start mapping your Instrumentl data to RENXT.
2. Map your information
Now that you've connected your Raiser's Edge NXT account, you'll begin mapping the information that will be sent to your RENXT account — Opportunity, Funder, and Task data.
A. Opportunity Data:
By default, the Opportunity name will include the Fiscal Year, and you can choose a different format to further distinguish your records, if preferred. Map your Notes and Statuses to the corresponding data in your RENXT account.
Once you've completed this mapping, click the Next button to view the mapping options for Funders.
PRO TIP: No worries — you can always come back here to make any changes to your mapping!
B. Funder Data:
Your Funder Notes will appear on your Constituents in RENXT — simply select a Note Type. Websites and contact information will appear within the Constituent’s record as well — simply select the specific contact fields.
Once you've completed this mapping, click the Next button to view the mapping options for Tasks.
C. Tasks:
Lastly, you'll sync your tasks to RENXT by mapping the Task statuses. If you prefer to not sync your Instrumentl Tasks as RENXT Activities, you can toggle it off.
Note: Instrumentl allows tasks with deadlines, but RENXT does not. Therefore, tasks without deadlines won’t sync.
You're all set! Now you can begin linking opportunities to sync to RENXT.
Tip: After each interaction settings, your selections are saved. So if you map a few things and then navigate away, you can pick up where you left off when you return. The Save and Exit button at the end is just for peace of mind.
3. 🔗 Linking
Navigate to the Project Tracker, select an opportunity, and try linking the opportunities to RENXT by clicking the Sync to Raiser’s Edge NXT button.
When linking, the integration can create new Opportunities and Constituents. However, it is recommended to sync with existing Constituents whenever possible to minimize duplication. There’s a search function to facilitate this process: when you select an opportunity, a dropdown will appear for you to select Opportunity Purpose.

Why is it saying my integration is "Not fully configured"?
Why is it saying my integration is "Not fully configured"?
Even though you've authenticated the integration itself, you will still need to configure your Opportunity, Funder, and Task data mappings under Steps 2, 3, and 4 below:
Once you've mapped the fields for Opportunity, Funder and Task Data, you can Save and Exit. Your integration should now be fully configured, which means you can start linking your Instrumentl data!
Why is Instrumentl not reflecting the changes I made in RENXT?
Why is Instrumentl not reflecting the changes I made in RENXT?
The Raiser's Edge NXT Integration is a one way sync from Instrumentl to RENXT. Therefore, changes made in Instrumentl will update records in RENXT, but not vice versa.
