Overview
You can terminate your subscription at any time, and you will retain access until the end of your billing cycle. Your last day of access will be communicated to you at the time of cancellation. Please note that refunds are not issued for the unused time left in your billing cycle.
Only Core Users with the Admin role can initiate the cancellation process or any of the alternatives described later in this article.
Before canceling your subscription, be sure to download your progress, as data cannot be recovered from inactive accounts. Closed account data will be queued for permanent deletion 30 days from your last day of service.
The term 'subscription' does not apply to users on a free trial. Free trials are not "cancelled." Instrumentl does not collect any payment information at signup for a trial account, so when a trial expires, there is no charge or automatic enrollment in a paid plan. Rather, platform access ends—no action required.
Alternatives to cancellation
Depending on your situation, you may prefer one of the following alternatives to cancelling your subscription outright.
Switch to monthly billing
If you are considering cancellation due to the upfront annual cost, you can switch to a monthly payment plan. Monthly payment plans allow for smaller, regular payments instead of paying the yearly subscription fee upfront.
Please note that switching from annual to monthly billing (and vice versa) results in an immediate reset of your billing cycle to the date this change is made. Any unused/remaining time in your annual subscription period will be credited and applied to the invoice for today's start of a new monthly billing cycle.
To make this change, begin by navigating to the Pricing page (Account > Settings > Manage > Change your plan).
➡️
➡️
Next, select Edit Plan > choose 'billed monthly' > Confirm Payment.
Maintenance Mode
If you'd like to pause your subscription, you can enter Maintenance Mode. In this state, your account is placed in "hibernation," preserving all your data. Maintenance Mode can be applied for up to 3 months, priced at $5/month. Accounts may enroll in Maintenance Mode only once per calendar year. During this period, you can choose to reactivate your account at any time or let your subscription resume automatically at the end of the 3 months.
A reminder that only Admin users can enable Maintenance Mode on your account.
To enroll in Maintenance Mode, go to Account > Settings > Manage > Cancel subscription > Pause instead.
Read our Guide to Maintenance Mode to learn more about pausing your subscription.
How to cancel your subscription
To cancel your subscription, an Admin user can follow these simple steps:
1. Go to the Settings page (Account > Settings).
➡️
2. Select Manage to go to the Subscription page.
4. Scroll down to the section 'Manage your plan' and select Cancel subscription.
We recommend requesting cancellation at least 2 business days before your next renewal date, i.e., the end of the current billing cycle, to give our team enough time to review and process your request.
When our team has finished cancelling your subscription, we'll send you confirmation by email.
Note: Based on your email notification settings, you may continue to receive emails from Instrumentl, such as New Matches and Deadline Digest, even after cancelling your subscription or letting your free trial expire. To unsubscribe from any of these emails, head to your Settings page. For more details, refer to these instructions to edit email preferences.
Regain access after cancelling
If you cancelled your subscription and it has expired, you can reactivate your account by following these steps:
Log back into Instrumentl using the same credentials as before. You'll be taken to the Pricing page, where you can view the available plan offerings, their prices and included features. Once you choose the plan that works best for you, a new billing cycle will begin that day.
If you resubscribe within 30 days of your previous subscription expiring, you may be able to continue with the same plan and price as before. Contact Instrumentl's Support team to confirm eligibility and for additional details.
Subscription renewal policy
Instrumentl subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. To avoid unexpected charges, be on the lookout for upcoming renewal email notifications that we send you a couple of days before the end of every billing cycle.
