There are a variety of reasons you may need to add a new payment method, such as a credit card expiring or an organizational change in payment policies. You can view and manage your payment method(s) on file directly on Instrumentl!
Accepted forms of payment
To subscribe and maintain an active Instrumentl account, we require a valid payment method on file. Instrumentl supports two types of payment at this time
Credit/debit card
*US bank account (ACH Direct Debit—not direct deposit)
*Please be aware that initial subscription payments with a linked US bank account can take several business days to process, depending on the bank. Your subscription will begin once your bank has fully processed the ACH debit transaction. Until then, you will not have access to the platform. For immediate access upon subscribing, you'll need to pay by card.
We do not support manual invoicing, direct deposit, mailed checks, cash or other online bill-pay platforms.
Billing user permissions
Account Owners (and other users with the Admin role) can add, remove or change the payment method on their Instrumentl account.
On the Settings page, if you do not see the sections 'Your subscription' and 'Billing Information', then you are not an Admin Core User on the account. This means you do not have permission to access or modify payment methods. Go to the Team page to view your role and verify the Account Owner/Admins.
View your payment methods on file
You can view your existing payment methods on file by going to Account > Settings. Look at 'Payment methods' in the 'Billing Information' section. You'll see the date each payment method was added, as well as the last four digits of the account/card number (and expiration date, if applicable).

Add a new payment method
The fastest and most direct way to add a new payment method is as follows.
You'll be taken to the following page, where you can either:
A) Select Pay with link (add a payment method stored on a Link account).
B) Or proceed to 'Enter payment details' where you'll enter your email, select 'Card' or 'US bank account'.
Credit or debit card
If you select 'Card', enter the card information, the cardholder's full name and the billing address. When finished, click Save.
US bank account
When adding a US bank account, you'll be prompted to enter your name and billing address. Following that, you can add your bank account in one of two ways:
A) Log in with your bank (instant verification)
See sections highlighted in blue 💙.
Search for and select your bank
Click Agree and continue
Sign in to your online bank with your bank login credentials
Finally, click Set up bank account.
B) Verify with microdeposits (~1-2 business days)
Near the bottom of the US bank account setup screen, select Enter bank details manually (see highlighted sections in green 💚 above)
Enter your routing and account numbers > slick Submit
Next, select Back to Instrumentl and initiate the microdeposit verification. Check your email for further instructions in the next day or two.
In about 1-2 business days (depending on your bank), Stripe will deposit a small amount of money in your linked bank account. Look closely at the transaction details for 'SM' followed by 4 digits (e.g., SM1234). This is your 'descriptor code'. Follow the instructions in the email. When prompted, enter the 4-digit code to complete the bank verification process, as shown below.
Managing payment methods
To replace or delete a card or bank account on file, or to set the default payment method, go to the 'Billing Information' section in the Settings page (Account > Settings) and select Manage billing.
You'll be taken to a "billing page" where you can view your subscription details, billing information and past invoices & receipts.
Remove a payment method
You'll be taken to a Billing page where you can view your subscription details, billing information and past invoices & receipts.
Find the card or bank account you wish to remove under 'Payment Methods' and select the 3-dot button on the far right.
Select Delete
Please note: You cannot remove a payment method if it is the only one on file. For as long as you have an active subscription, you must have at least one valid payment method on file.
Set as default
In the 'Current Subscription' section at the top of the Billing page, you can view your subscription details: the plan, price, upcoming billing date and default payment method.
Select the ✎ "pencil"/"edit" icon next to the payment method.
You'll be taken to the 'Payment method' page. Select a different payment method on file as the default for your subscription. You can add a new payment method here as well. When finished, select Update.
An alternative way to set the default card or bank account on file is to click the 3-dot button to the far right of the desired payment method on the Billing page—the same place to delete a payment method, as described above. Select Make default.
