The Messenger function allows you to self-assess your onboarding progress, quickly self-serve your questions, correspond with our team and keep tabs on Instrumentl's website service status.
Overview
While signed in to your Instrumentl account, you can access the Messenger on any page within the platform. The Messenger is made up of 'spaces' that provide you with an intuitive way to navigate to what you need.
Currently, there are four spaces in the Instrumentl Messenger:
Click the hyperlinked 'spaces' above to jump ahead to their corresponding sections.
Locate the Messenger
To open the Messenger window, click the encircled "chat bubble" in the bottom-right corner of your screen (when signed in).
Sometimes, the icon will be a magnifying glass ๐ rather than a chat bubble. This indicates you have an open, recently created conversation.
How to close the Messenger
When the Messenger window is expanded, there are two ways to collapse or close it. The first is the 'X' icon in the top-right corner of the window. The second is the encircled "downward arrow" below the window in the bottom-right corner.

Home Space
When you click the "chat bubble" icon, the Messenger window will expand. The Home Space is the default "landing space" you'll initially see.
The Home Space has a few components from other spaces all in one place for easy and quick access:
Messages
You can access a recent conversation with us by selecting Recent message.
Alternatively, selecting Send us a message will start a new conversation with our Support team (see Messages Space)
Search for help
From the Home Space, you'll see personalized article suggestions from the Help Center. You can also click into the search bar, which will take you to the Help Space.
Onboarding Checklist
You can see your progress with the Onboarding Checklist in your Home Space. Review the number of steps you've completed and how many remain, the estimated time it will take to finish, and a preview of the next step. Click on the Checklist to view more details in the Tasks Space.
Status page
A unique component of the Home Space is the status page. See at a glance whether the Instrumentl website services are online. Click View status page for more details.
There are three subpages within the status page.
1. Status: View the last 90 days of status by service (Homepage, 990 Report and Grant Page).
2. Maintenance: Check for upcoming scheduled maintenance so you know when to expect the site to be down for your grant work planning purposes. (Historical maintenance data is accessible as well.)
3. Previous incidents: See if there was (or is) an incident impacting many or all users of Instrumentl. This may explain any unexpected behavior of the site.
Subscribe to email notifications for site-wide incidents by clicking Get updates and following the prompts. Enter your email address, select specific service components to subscribe to if desired, and confirm your subscription via email confirmation.

Messages Space
Do you have any questions, comments, or need help? You can contact our friendly Support team directly from the platform Messenger. In the Messages Space, you can start a new conversation or revisit a previous thread.
Start or continue a conversation
Select Send us a message to begin a new conversation with our Support team.
If you wish to continue an active conversation or follow up on a previously closed matter, scroll to locate the chat, then click it. Threads are sorted in order of most recent "activity" or reply.
You can attach documents, insert pictures, transcribe voice-to-text, and utilize GIFs & emojis ๐
Be on the lookout for a red numeric badge on the Messenger icon. This means you have new, unread messages in your active conversation(s).

Response times
Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM Eastern Time. Our typical response time varies by volume, but we try our best to respond to every message the same day it is received (if sent within business hours).
We do close for certain holidays throughout the year (out-of-office messages will appear when you open a conversation in Messenger).
Expand the chat window
If the conversation window is too small, you can enlarge it by clicking the three-dot menu and then Expand window:
To return to the original size, select Collapse window from the same three-dot menu:
Help Space
From the Help Space, you can search our Help Center for FAQs, troubleshooting solutions and guides to our platform features.
Our entire Help Center library of articles is organized into collections and sub-collections. You may find it useful to browse our knowledge base categorically. For example, Managing Your Account > Billing > Where can I find my invoices/receipts?

Tasks Space
The Tasks Space is where you can find your assigned Checklists. The Onboarding Checklist is especially important, as it will help you effectively use the platform to derive the most value.
Click on the Checklist to open up all the steps.
Next, select one of the steps to view the detailed instructions.
Scroll to the bottom of the expanded text to find the Mark as completed buttonโclick it once you've completed this step.
When all steps are marked complete, your Checklist is done!
