Setup Instructions
Getting up and running with Virtuous integration is a quick and easy four-step process! As an overview, you’ll take the following steps:

Step 1: Enable integration
In order to enable your integration you should have an API key. Copy your API key under the Settings menu in Virtuous:
Once you have the API key copied, log into Instrumentl and then:
Go to Account → Integration in the bottom, left side of your screen.
Click Log into Virtuous.
Paste in your API key on this screen and click Authorize.
Step 2: Map Opportunity Data
After clicking the Authorize button, click on Map Opportunity Data so you can:
Configure your Opportunity name
Map Opportunity status
Toggle Opportunity Notes - optional
Toggle Custom Fields - optional
Step 3: Map Funder Data
After clicking the Next button, you can map your Funder Data.
Add placeholders for Contact Individuals
Toggle Sync Funder Contacts — optional
Toggle Sync Key People — optional
Map Contact Note Type
Toggle Custom Fields — optional
After this step, you’ll have completed your Virtuous integration setup! 🎉
Step 4: Sync Data to Virtuous
Now that your Virtuous Integration is set up, it's time to sync your data! From your Tracker, open any grant and click the Sync to Virtuous button from the bottom right.
Select existing contact, or select the Create New Contact from dropdown.
If you selected existing, select the grant.
Click on the Confirm button and wait until you see the Synced label.
From here on out, changes you make in Instrumentl will automatically get pushed to Virtuous, saving you time and giving you peace of mind.

Users can link Saved Grants and Funders to Opportunities and Constituents, respectively.
Can I map Tasks to Virtuous?
Can I map Tasks to Virtuous?
No — tasks cannot be mapped to Virtuous at this time. The Virtuous API does not support updates to tasks after they've been created.
How do I map Custom Fields?
How do I map Custom Fields?
Custom Fields in Instrumentl can only be synced to custom fields in Virtuous. You'll just need to create a custom field of the same name in Virtuous to map to it.
Syncing & Updates

The integration initially does not transfer any data to Virtuous automatically upon activation. Instead, data begins to sync only when you manually link an opportunity in Instrumentl to a corresponding opportunity in Virtuous.
This approach gives you complete control over which data is synchronized, ensuring that your Virtuous account remains organized and free of unwanted entries.
Are changes automatically synced to Virtuous?
Are changes automatically synced to Virtuous?
Yes — changes are automatically synced from Instrumentl to Virtuous whenever a change is made to a record in Instrumentl to which the field is mapped.
The updates are immediate. This ensures that your data remains consistently up-to-date across both platforms.

Changes are synchronized one-way from Instrumentl to Virtuous. Any changes made will overwrite any values in Virtuous, regardless of when those updates were made.
