Instrumentlβs Virtuous integration provides a one-way sync of data from Instrumentl to your Virtuous CRM. This integration helps you minimize duplicate data entry, enrich your records and share deeper insights with your broader fundraising team in Virtuous.
This article focuses on mapping fields between Instrumentl and Virtuous when configuring your integration. Please refer to our main Virtuous Integration Guide first for more information on overall integration capabilities and full setup instructions.
β‘οΈ Mappable Fields
Many Instrumentl Funder and Opportunity fields can be mapped to corresponding fields in Virtuous.
We cannot sync Tasks to Virtuous because the Virtuous API doesn't support this type of record syncing.
Changes are automatically synchronized from Instrumentl to Virtuous whenever a record in Instrumentl is updated, provided the field is mapped.
See the field-mapping tables below to verify which fields can be synced from Instrumentl to Virtuous.
Custom Fields in Instrumentl can be mapped to Custom Fields in Virtuous, provided they are the same data type. (We do not support Y/N fields or picklists for Custom Field mapping.)

*Contact Note Type
Funder Notes do not have a "Type" in Instrumentl. Therefore, when Funder Notes sync to Virtuous as Contact Notes, the Type field will be assigned based on the Contact Note Type you select in the 'Map Funder Data' section of the Virtuous Integration settings.

**Syncing Opportunity Notes
"Grant Notes" do not exist in Virtuous. So, Instrumentl maps Opportunity Notes to Contact Notes instead. This field mapping is optional. To enable this sync, toggle on the 'Opportunity Notes' field from the 'Map Opportunity Data' section of the Virtuous Integration settings.
Just like with Funder Notes field mapping, you need to select the Virtuous Contact Note Type you'd like assigned to your "Opportunity Notes" (synced as Contact Notes).
