Every Instrumentl account has a single Account Owner β this administrative role is automatically assigned to the user who originally created the account and purchased their Instrumentl subscription.
The Account Owner may also be referred to as the "account manager" or "account administrator". This title isn't just a formality, though! Account Owners are the main point of contact and maintain primary responsibility for overseeing their Instrumentl account.
Account Owner privileges
The designated Account Owner can always manage their team and Instrumentl subscription. As an Owner, you can:
Manage team members: Invite Core Users to join your account, add Collaborators, remove teammates and purchase additional Core User seats to expand your team.
Transfer account ownership: If you're leaving your organization, or if your colleague will be managing the account, you can designate another user as the new Account Owner to ensure the account is properly managed and accessible.
Control User Permissions:
You can adjust the roles and permissions of each Core User on the team, including both Admins, Members and *Project Members (*role only on select plans)
If your plan includes Collaborator Access, you can also upgrade Collaborators to Core Users.
Learn more about your plan's available features here.
Manage your plan's billing: Head to Account > Settings to edit your Instrumentl subscription or update the payment method on file.
Access billing information: You can download receipts directly from your account. The Account Owner will automatically receive billing information to their email.
Verify MFA status: On the Team Page, view (but cannot enforce) whether your team members have chosen to use Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) to log in.
Monthly Insights Report Summary: The Account Owner exclusively receives a monthly email detailing their Instrumentl account's progress. Learn more about platform emails and how to adjust your email settings here.
Changing the Account Owner
Before departing an organization, we highly recommend that the current Owner transfer account ownership to an existing or new Instrumentl teammate.
This will ensure future billing emails are sent to the correct member of the organization and prevent organizational knowledge gaps about the existence of an active subscription. Once everything is in order, this is also an ideal time to have the new Account Owner removed to free up a Core User seat for a future team member.
A. Transfer ownership to another teammate
To switch your account ownership to another Core User:
The current Account Owner will need to log in and head to Account > Manage Team.
From this Team Page, select Make Account Owner from the 'User Actions' dropdown menu to the far-right of the prospective user listed
.
B. Remove an inactive Account Owner
If an Owner is no longer at your org or would prefer not to manage the account, we highly recommend transferring ownership to an active member to keep your team organized!
If the listed Account Owner is no longer with your team or cannot be reached, no worries! The Instrumentl Support team can help you change the Account Owner and update your team's roles as needed.
You can also try updating this yourself if you have access to the Owner's email. Log in as the Owner (you may need to reset their password first) > Account > Manage Team > open the 'User Actions' dropdown menu > select Make Account Owner.
